Bringing Titus T. rex to the UK

Titus: T. rex is King
is an extraordinary exhibition, showcasing the first real Tyrannosaurus rex to be displayed in England for over a century. Opening at Wollaton Hall Natural History Museum in July 2021, this is an epic, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to come face to face with a real T. rex up-close and personal in the UK.

Creative Good is extremely proud to have been appointed as exhibition designer by Nottingham City Council.

'A Christmas Carol' - exterior graphics for Sandwell MBC

Just before Christmas we were asked by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council to design and supply a set of temporary exterior graphic panels. The council wanted bold, engaging graphic panels for the outdoor spaces of their museum sites, to provide a backdrop to outdoor activities while the museum buildings themselves were closed to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The graphics feature the beautiful illustrations of John Leech, from the 1843 first edition of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and Arthur Rackham, from an early twentieth century edition. The panels were designed, artworked, manufactured and delivered in two weeks, for the council to install on site. Our client is extermely pleased with the results and visitor feedback has been very positive.

Interpreting HMS Trincomalee’s figurehead

HMS Trincomalee, built in 1817, is the oldest wooden vessel afloat in the world and is moored at the National Museum of the Royal Navy’s Hartlepool site. When the ship was restored in the 1990s, its figurehead was found to be suffering from rot and was replaced by a replica. The original, carved in 1845 in preparation for the ship’s first commission, was ‘rediscovered’ in a storeroom in 2016. It was fully restored during 2020 and is now on display as the new centrepiece of the HMS Trincomalee gallery.

Creative Good was appointed to light and interpret the restored figurehead. We designed and built new displays including graphics, an audio-visual presentation and a simple physical interactive, all of which have been styled to sit comfortably within the existing design language of the gallery. Installation was particularly challenging, with new lighting and decorations having to be installed above a staircase whilst working around the restored (and protected!) figurehead. To address the resulting risks, we developed a bespoke working platform that was manufactured in modules off site, thereby enabling safe and shortened installation and removal operations.

Further details of the project can be found on the National Museum of the Royal Navy’s website:

Battle of Britain 80th Anniversary

Today marks the 80th Anniversary of the start of the Battle of Britain. Two years ago this month we were handing over Phase 2 of our work on the redevelopment project at the Battle of Britain Memorial in Kent, in time for their Memorial Day celebrations.

Sadly, the Memorial site is currently closed due to coronavirus and, as a consequence, has lost a huge proportion of its annual revenue. The Trust has launched a Crowdfunder appeal in an effort to offset this loss and secure the future of the Memorial.
